High-Rise Training at Bethany Village Today

Washington Township Fire Department will conduct a training exercise Friday morning, June 4 for “High Rise Building Rescue” at the Bethany Village Vista Place apartments, the tallest building in Centerville and Washington Township. 

The drill benefits the entire community by demonstrating responsibility, readiness and competence for the firefighters, their rescue equipment and vehicles. Bethany Village views the drill as an important training and readiness responsibility which will include participation with some employees. Bethany Village emphasizes the top priorities of safety and the well-being of the residents through annual fire prevention training programs for each and every employee with the Washington Twp. Fire Department. Bethany Village routinely conducts disaster response drills and periodically hosts the high rise building rescue training exercise. 

Who: Washington Township Fire Department crews, including numerous engines, a ladder truck and rescue vehicle, with mutual aid from Miami Township and Sugarcreek Township fire departments. Employees at Bethany Village Vista Place, independent living apartment building. 

What: On site training event focused on responding to a fire in a “High Rise” building 

Where: Bethany Village Vista Place, 6445 Far Hills Avenue, Centerville, Ohio 

When: Friday, June 4 at approximately 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Why: Ensure that firefighters function well in high rise operations, while exhibiting competency in mutual aid coordination and communication. Demonstrate to the community at large and elderly residents living independently in Centerville’s tallest building that their safety and well-being are the highest priority through prompt response and emergency operations training.
